The Edge Fender Signature 57 Tweed Deluxe

Thought an AC30 would be more of a signature model for the Edge than this. 57 tweed deluxe , handwired, 12 watts, celestion blue, looks interesting. http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/series/artist-signature/the-edge-deluxe-230v-eur/

I'll wait until they bring out a Bonamassa signature version of the Edge, then I'll buy him.

I think it looks interesting. I never thought of the edge as a fender amp guy though

It is a bit odd - he has used Fender amps for some time now, mostly the Deluxe - fitted with a Celestion Blue, of which there is no mention in the Fender spec - but also a Blues Jr I think, specifically for his slide guitar parts… but his 'signature' amp is the AC30.

  • About half way down this interview with Dallas schoo. "Well, of course we have the main AC30 from '64. Can't do a show without that. Then we have a '58 Fender Deluxe with a Vox speaker and a '57 Deluxe with a Jensen speaker. From there we go to a mid-'50s Fender Harvard - a very rare amp, by the way, and it sounds fantastic - and I put a Vox speaker in that. Plus, we have some early '70s Vox amps as backups." http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/u2-exclusive-the-edges-stage-setup-revealed-223342

It seems strange to me though as he is really not someone I would think of that has a fender sound. The great thing about most fender users is that they do wonderful things with standard amps, just the brilliant normal twins or Princetons. People mod Marshalls so signature amps make more sense. I didn't realise that people did the same with Fender amps?

There is: "The distinctive voice of the coveted 12” Celestion® Blue speaker, with its smooth attack, warm lows, mellow upper midrange and bell-like high end, creates richly-defined tone with highly musical compression when pushed".

Perhaps this is the 'competitor' to the Lazy J20?

i think you hit the nail on the head, though i dont think the EC handwired amps were big sellers so would the Edge manage to sell more than EC?

Weren't they pretty overpriced for what they were though? Were they 'properly' handwired? Not accusatory here, just asking as I didn't really pay them much attention when they were released.

The last EC sig tweed amps were blown out for pretty reasonable money when they didn't sell, hopefully it'll be more of the same ;-)

They're doing a Strat too... Dolphin and PMT both have google listings for it and 404s when you click on them - obviously jumped the NAMM gun a little.

Now if they did an Explorer I'd be keen...

  • Reading the interview with Dallas Schoo up there, I was more interested in the story about Gibson recreating his '75 Les Paul Custom to perfection.

    So they CAN do it...
