I hate the way the word 'Epic' is bandied around these days. It's generally used to describe something that is anything but. It's become watered down.
'Fresh' is annoying too. Supermarkets and journalists seem to love the word.

    Oops - double post.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

'Hard-working families'. Do Cameron and Osbourne really need to squeeze this into every other sentence?

"Man flu" when referring to actually having flu.A friend's girlfriend wrote it today on FB: "Thanks Mike, I now have your man-flu".

No you don't.You have Mike's flu.
Reminds me, flu when somebody means a cold, or migraine when they mean a headache. If you're not pretty much incapacitated, then you probably haven't got either.

People who say "arksed" instead of asked.

and "pacifically" when they mean specifically.

makes me want to punch them.

When I was at school , a kid in my class used to say Sumbarine , and Draclia  , not because he was just a little kid ,

he was an annoying 11yr old, who would not be told he was wrong, aggravating little shit.

    Good one - arksed. Isn't it a Londoner/Southern thing?

No, it's a can't be bothered speaking properly thing. Much like chimley or wevver.

I hate the phrase "touch base" - e.g. "I just wanted to touch base with you regarding this afternoon's idea shower."

WTF - what is it with this "management speak", do they have people out there whose job it is to invent this stuff?

Uni students are clever. No. The ones I encounter are not CLEVER. Yes they might be academic geniuses but fuck me will they ever learn to cross a road AFTER LOOKING AND SEEING THE CAR WITH HEADLIGHTS ON AND INDICATORS.

  • Not heard quite so much recently but this may be because I see fewer of the kind of people who make this mistake, but

    "Rift" meaning "Riff"

and "Bottom String" meaning the "Top String" (FFS it isn't the bottom string 'cos it's closest to the floor!)
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)

Curate. As in "Dean Wankley has curated the cheeses for this event" or "the chuckle brothers have curated the comedy tent".

    Chosen. The word is chosen.

Museums are curated. Other things are chosen.

Yeah I find that is deeply patronising to the people who pay their wage, whilst allowing them time to make up an answer on the spot.

I'm finding the 'I/we pay your wage' thing a bit tiresome, so let's add that to the list. :)
