    Yes, the loop is more pedal-friendly, but it's a very different animal altogether - the crunch channel is replaced by a "proper" clean channel, and the drive channel is more British-sounding.

    I have solved my clipping problem thanks to digitalscream's suggestion.

    I invested in a Bright Onions Volume pedal switch and placed it in front of the CH1, DM2W & DD7 in the loop.

    Dropped the volume a little at a time until no more clipping.  To test I used an attenuator and ran at full chat.

    I leave the pedal on using the JCA22 and if using the Blackheart I simply turn it off.

    Have not noticed much increase in noise floor nor any real signal loss.

    Great solution for me.
