Hi Allen, Please could you tell me about the Orca's in Coda at the moment...you say they used to belong to you. thanks for the help. Jon
Not me. When I just looked in Coda they had the red one and the black one.

They have both been for sale on this forum so do a search and you should see them come up.

I've played the red one - impressive, but not for me.

I'm now thinking of selling this.

What are people's thoughts on value? I see so few of these around.

Price vs how quickly you want to get rid

    £3500-4000 - probably go instantly
    £4000-4500 - probably go in a week
    £4500-5000 - probably in a month
£5000-5500 - The right buyer would come along at some point

Incredibly specialist market, that competes with other unique builders, Patrick James Eggle etc, they usually hold 50-60% new value, however not the same as Gibsons/fenders Murphys who have the bonus of a far bigger market of people looking for them.

    * Music Man Luke 1, Luke II

    Please drop me a message.

Worth noting that Gibson C+D’d this body shape out of existence, so might have a slight advantage if anyone prefers this “older” shape.

I’d say you should be looking for at least 5k.

If it’s the slimmer bodied Orca, i.e. not the ‘59, then the market and price might be a bit more limited, especially with appeal to LP lovers wanting to stray from their trusty Gibson, as they are quite different beasts. I had one and it really didn’t sound much like a typical LP at all, which was quite odd when it looks so much like one, but suppose the slightly longer scale and thin body really do make a difference. Almost more Tele’ish. I have played the ‘59 as well for comparison. Not to say it sounded bad, it didn’t, but definitely different. Beautifully made guitars though.

Pretty sure it’s an orca, which isn’t as desirable as an orca 59. However, the Brazilian board makes it worth a heck of a lot more than East Indian.

As a guide, I sold my 59 double stained East Indian very quickly at £4250 from memory. If it had been Brazilian, I’d have got closer to 6k.

For a orca with Brazilian 4k to sell quickly, 4,500 as base price and 5k if you’re happy to wait for the right person over quite a long period unless you get lucky.

    They are superb superb guitars.
