    Loved this and the album.

    [The The]
Same here, and also the bitingly accurate 'Heartland' from Infected, which still rings true thirty years later.

I want to mention Big Country here. Naysayers and mickey takers can say nay and take the mick, but they had some wonderful songs and 'Chance' is a really, really strong song.

Slave To The Rhythm. The groove and the rhythm guitar parts still give me goose bumps.
Oh yes @stratman3142 The 12" is basically an instrumental runthrough and the vocal version stitched together. It's absolutely stunning. It's on Spotify I think. .

    Put yer foot down

And if we're talking the 80's, Mr Roddy Frame deserves a big Ovation...literally.

^ Bloody marvellous. 'I used to be so careless, as if couldn't care less'.

Quality song writing. Genuinely one of my favourite singles of all time.

I started racking my brain to think of my faves from the 80s, but stopped when I remembered this:

I remember this mainly for the weird hook that goes "whee da doo doo doo doo doo doo doo".

    Where does one start?

    A-Ha - Take On Me
Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels
Haircut 100 - Love Plus One
    Black - Wonderful Life
Bruce Hornsby and The Range - The Way It Is
    King - Love and Pride
    UB40 - Red Red Wine
Lloyd Cole and The Commotions - Lost Weekend
    Fuzzbox - Pink Sunshine
Midge Ure - Dancing With Tears In My Eyes
    Human League - Human

    There must be hundreds more...

I don't know how I forgot this either… some of the best lyrics ever.

Surprised this brilliance hasn't come up (unless I missed a mention)

If Bauhaus & Iron Maiden are OK here then I'll nominate this (don't really think it's pop, but any excuse)-

This is pop though & they were excellent-
