Columbia owners - just wondering whether you've a/b'd the Columbia against a Carr Rambler?

I haven't, but I HAVE A/Bd it against a Tone King Imperial, which in turn I'd A/Bd against a few Ramblers. I strongly preferred the Imperial to the Ramblers, but I sold the Imperial when I got the Columbia. It's a far more accurate vintage blackface sound than the others. 

Actually, I think "blackface cleans" is a massively overused term. The only amps I've heard that actually sounds like old blackface amps are the Louis ones

@Lebarque  i traded a rambler in for the Columbia....different beasts, both superb in their own way but for me the Columbia sounds bigger and more dynamic,

I have the Roadrunner (6V6, 10" speaker version of essentially the same amp).
I use it at home but it has never been louder than 2-3
If you want to wind it up to saturate then you are going to want to have some very understanding neighbours.

It is a loud amp, 6 and half tends to be a real sweet spot. For home use, you can still get a decent sound on low volumes around 2-3

Haven’t compared my Columbia with a deltone but did compare against a silverface deluxe with blackface mods. Probably not the best comparison example as the Columbia had the Jupiter speaker and the deluxe had a Celestion blue. The Columbia with 6v6’s 18 watts stayed clean right up to 7 and was putting out more clean volume. The deluxe was breaking up around 4.
when I gig mine, it’s usually on 3 max and that’s with a less efficient greenback fitted. With the stock speaker they are loud especially when running 6l6’s.
