If anyone has got an thr100 they would loan out. I'd love to try one at a gig.

Seriously, the 100 would be a stunning gigging amp.

Head and 2x12 for about a grand. It is very tempting. Amazing value if you don't need a cab.

Or if you buy a Harley Benton cab for half that price.

The Yamaha one doesn't look especially nice either, to me.
More like a quarter! I've had one of those HB cabs for years, seems fine to me. Amazing value.

    Well,

I was very fortunate to spend a couple of hours with @Rossyamaha on Friday at PMT Birmingham. He is a top man, and a very good guitarist to boot !!

The Yamaha THR 100HD is an amazing amp. As you know, I'm fortunate to have owned some high end amps, and currently have a Rambler and a Lazy J20.

The cleans of the 100 shocked me straight away; very accomplished, nice verb and surprisingly full sounding. But the whole point of this amp is adding the 'second' amp and mixing it with the 'first'. Truly awesome sounds. You can blend between the two to get all manner of varied tones.

This is definitely the future. Valves sounds AND feel at a fraction of the price. Man, how are these amps gonna sound in 5-10 years ? The death of the tube amp ? I dunno, but this is a very compelling case.

The head AND 1x12 cab are super light. 99% of the time no one would differentiate between the valve and e digital. Incredible, and me a valve snob an all...

If you gig, try try try one of these. You'll be amazed !

A quick call from my MD requesting me back at the office, broke up my skive morning and quickly brought me back down to earth !!

What happened next amp-wise ? More info to follow...

I'm sure it's a good amp but I'm struggling with the "why?" when you have a Lazy J and and a Rambler at home. It's not that's it's smaller / quieter "3rd" amp.

Warren I'm genuinely shocked mate. That said I've never even tried one to be fair, just wrote them off without trying one.
My loss I guess, I'll have to check one out.
    Happy NAD!

To be fair Dan, that's exactly what it is. The break up is superb, and I must say at home volumes, you would be hard pushed to tell the difference between this and the Rambler.

And THAT is saying some thing.

But, it stands as an amp on its own. Like the 100HD, you can mix the 'clean' and the 'crunch' channels to combine some superb tones. Loud, lite, effortless.

It even outperformed a Mesa sat next to it in some settings. Full review to follow.

My blues cube hot is the best bit of gear I've bought in ages. Sounds better for practicing than my Rambler. I've just done a jazz gig this afternoon in somebody's back garden with it in 5 watt mode too. Sounds great.

    Mate,

The 100 was very good, but the looks, feel and tone of this has to be seen and heard to be believed.

How have they done this ???

I have a THR10C as a practice amp. I love it. I'm always impressed how well it takes pedals and responds to different I put levels as you would want.
I've had other solid states that come nowhere close.
