I don't like Coldplay

for as long as I recall I have disliked Coldplay and they are often the butt of my 'boring' related jokes. Someone the other day commented that they were good at Glastonbury, and that the light show was really good. As usual I followed it with a negative comment. But, I paused for a moment and then decided that I didn't feel great about being so negative, so I went back and deleted my post. I stuck their Glastonbury performance on iPlayer whilst doing other stuff, and I have to say that it was a great light show, and they played to the audience really well. I actually rather liked the songs as well. They are not exactly my thing, but I have decided that I have a bit more respect for them now. I think that a turning point was that song with the apes in the video. I heard that song and loved it, before I knew it was them. Having said that I still hate that track 'Yellow', and a few others ....

    I love 'Yellow' @axisus - but don't worry, I'll forgive you.

I don't own any of their albums but I think at what they do, they're pretty much as good as it gets. Every time I see them live on TV, I think they're great - The Scientist and Fix You have caused me to have 'something in my eye' on more than one occasion.

If all of this makes me 'a bad person', I'll live with it....

If only the whole country had this attitude perhaps we wouldn't be so divided

I heard some of their Glastonbury set and, as ever, it didn't do much for me.

They're an easy target because they don't really fight back against the boring tag that some lump them with. For what it's worth, Chris Martin seems like a decent guy with a sense of humour and self-awareness.

Coldplay don't do anything for me. The first album has some flashes of greatness, but that's about it. The music is well-produced and harmless radio friendly stuff - it just not my thing.

Coldplay wish they were Radiohead but are too ordinary. Can we talk about Radiohead some more then?

If any band have ever needed a distortion pedal to be kicked in it's Coldplay.

    :D Genuine LOL.

Whenever I hear them I often think it's about to go into a big chorus, but it never does.

I once thought they needed exterminating too.

Then I saw them live and was utterly entranced. Seriously.

I'd put them right up there- as an entertaining show, the best I've ever seen.

And as I've said before, no-one does earworm riffs quite like Buckland does.

Blooming marvellous band, imho of course. As said a couple of times, saw them for the 4th time at Wembley a couple of weeks ago and it was spectacular. Chris really knows how to play to a crowd and get the, going, and there are so many anthems (if you like that sort of thing) that keeps the entire crowd engaged from start to finish.

As @gassage says, Mr Buckland is a brilliant guitarist, without being flashy, and has tonnes of riffs that you just recognise instantly. Oh, and his guitars are rather fetching too.

Each to their own and all that, but I love them!
