At what point does it stop being trapped wind and start being appendix??

ok so had bad tummy cramps for last 1.5 days.
its not going away, now starting to hurt when I twist or cough.

anyone got experience with that? It's lower down, on my right hand side, jabbing in tummy hurts....
It's not agony, just uncomfortable. Especially if I straighten up.
4/10 pain wise, sharp cramping/shooting pain every now and then......

Have you got a fever? I'd recommend dialing that NHS helpline, 111 and they'll be able to advise.

Get yourself looked at. If it's not your appendix it might be a hernia.

You'd know about it if it was full-on appendicitis. I had that when I was 14 and it's by far the most pain I've ever been in, worse than a prolapsed disc in my back - bad enough that even thinking about anything other than the pain is difficult.

I don't think it is, by all accounts it's very painful, it might be a precursor tho.....

Trouble is @professorben  4/10 to you may be someones 10/10! It could be related to the viral symptoms but, as retired medic, I'd go and get examined. They are easy to remove the earlier you do it. @ICBM your right you dont want to miss ahernia!

I've had hernia before, I'd recognise the feeling, this is different.

Push slowly down on the area where you appendix is, as far as you can.. and then let go quickly. If the release causes you acute pain.. then get yourself looked at quick cos that is supposed to be a classic sign of appendicitis.

I went to the doctors 3 times, every time they said "it is just trapped wind". Then saw a different doctor about 4 weeks after my initial visit and he immediately called me an ambulance and I was rushed into surgery.

The surgeon said it was one of the largest she had seen, my cock that is.
But seriously, the appendix was massive as well and apparently it could have ruptured any time, which could have even been fatal.


Equalsql is correct, push down and quick release, if it hurts more on the release than on the push down then go to GP.

I have 3 scars, one is completely hidden now, can't find it, and the other two are about 8mm and completely impossible to see behind all of the "undergrowth". one of the surgeons showed me his scar fro when he had an appendectomy, and his scar was massive.

Key hole surgery is brilliant, hope everything gets sorted.

Get pro help, soon........Peritonitis is what happens when you leave it to fester, it's not pleasant......I was apparently 30mins from pegging it when I was blue lighted to th'ospital.....

You should def get it checked out.

Scenario A is you require medical attention so are in the right place.

Scenario B is it's trapped wind and you let rip in front of the nurses!

Don't go to a GP with appendicitis. Go to an A&E. Ideally drive over speed bumps, if that hurts a lot it's a pretty sensitive sign of appendicitis.

I had similar symptoms when I first got Crohn's.
It's probably not much, but get yourself checked.
