Jerry Donahue has had a stroke

What's Hot
Just read the news that Jerry had a stroke on Friday. Been lucky enough to work with Jerry a bunch of times and we became quite pally. Huge inspiration. He's stable but they missed the window to treat it. Unable to speak at the moment. Really hope he gets through this. :-(

I play guitar and take photos of stuff. I also like beans on toast.

A simply amazing guitarist, and a top man by all accounts. Here's hoping to a full recovery...

    That's sad news.

A great player and a really nice guy. Met him at a workshop thing when I was younger and he signed my telecaster for me.

    Always wanted a JD Strat

That's bad news, I hope makes a full recovery. I've met Jerry a number of times over the years. My trio were once asked to be his backing band at a gig in Clitheroe, we turned up unrehearsed and just winged it, it was great! He enjoyed it too and asked if we would consider being his backing band on a forthcoming tour. Of course we said yes, but unfortunately the tour never came off. Best wishes to him and his family. Rob.

If you have faith - say a prayer for Jerry.
If you don't have faith - keep your fingers crossed for Jerry.
Thanks for posting rossyyamaha. Sadly we cannot depend on the mainstream media to relay this kind of news. (That is not a complaint. It is simply an observation about  information overload).

I really hope he makes a decent recovery. It depends on how severe it was and where the brain was affected by the stroke though and sadly he didn't get quick treatment. From what I've heard of other guitarists who've had strokes (Tony McPhee, Larry Miller) it can be a devastating event and has killed their playing skills. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen to Jerry.  :'(

This is terrible to hear. Never had the pleasure of seeing him live, but his whole approach to guitar has been a constant source of inspiration to me since I saw his famous head-turning appearance on C4's Equinox documentary in the late 80's.

I hope he pulls through and is back playing in his own time.

A true gent and an inspiration.

Awww shit, Jerry is a gentleman. I've had the pleasure of working with him (not playing, but doing some tech work) and he was just such a nice guy.

I hope he makes a full recovery.

That doc (Twang, Bang, Kerrang) was an inspiration to me back then also. I started to practice behind-the-nut bends immediately!

Had the enormous pleasure of seeing Jerry live at a PMT evening a couple of years ago, Jerry was just hanging out in the shop beforehand chatting to everyone that wanted to. The show was a cross between a concert and a Q&A and afterwards was more chat as Jerry signed anything and everything people had brought.

Phenomenal player and a proper gent, get well soon I hope.
