FWIW I asked for and got Weekend Rockstars for Christmas. Had read and enjoyed it by NYE.
    This makes me very happy.
    Thanks Phil.
I just read it again. And enjoyed it again. :)
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

Would it make you happy to know I came up with a way to do a sequel the other day? (It will be about a year at least before it can even be a dreadful first draft but it's probably happening).

@Dave_Vader ; It probably would. Will George still be with Elaine, will his new band be the cause of their breakup, will he abandon the bass, go electronic and make a fortune out of silly beep-beep noises on the interweb? We wait to see ... :)

I gave a copy of the book to a new vocalist last year as an introduction to band politics etc...

A lot of the characters are familiar...

Did you live in your car while doing it?
The guy that wrote that is a friend of mine and he got treated like a piece of crap on here for trying to promote his book.
You should all* feel ashamed of yourselves, but you won't.

*maybe not all but those that gave him a hard time.
I couldn't see anything negative in this thread? Was there another?

  • I did read Weekend Rockstars on Kindle, very enjoyable. I tend to voraciously read books on holiday and never at other times so I'll try to make a mental note of the new ones for the summer.

Enjoyed both "Weekend Rockstars" and "The Craft Room" so very happy to buy a copy of the new one. Not sure when I'll get chance to read it though so I'm not likely to post a review in the near future.

    Hello

It's only 99p for a bit, for those of you who haven't felt like reading it yet

(that's a bit less than a pack of Rizlas, rather than it's usual price of a bit less than a disppointing cup of coffee)

Thank  you very much @thomasross20 glad you enjoyed it.

When I first came up with it I decided to make sure people knew it wasn't autobiographical by making George much older than I was. It starts on his 42nd birthday (because of a deleted Douglas Adams homage joke that didn't work in the end).
I had also just given up playing in covers bands, and wasn't going to do it anymore.

I was 42 on Saturday and did a covers gig in a small pub in Appledore.

My younger self hates me, and wants me to be miserable.

Eric the Weary* is a character I created when I was a student drawing cartoons for the student magazine. He was a grumpy old social worker with a beard, glasses and wore jumpers.
I'm now 54, have gone back to social work, am decidedly grumpy and have glasses and am wearing a jumper today.

So, it could be worse Dave.

But, yes, if I didn't say so before I enjoyed the book.

*Eric the Weary Bee is a character in a children's book although my development of him/ my future self long precedes that.

    Thanks Eric,
The upside to having gone back to it and got even older is that the sequel very nearly exists now, thanks to some awful people I have met in the last few years.

Excellent news, thanks Phil. Any and all reviews gratefully accepted on amazon or goodreads - whether well written or just stabbing at keys with your thumbs - all helps with the algorithms.
