overdrive pedals that use FETs - name any, please; discuss.

Which overdrive pedals use FETs (Field Effect Transistors) ?  e.g. JFets, Mosfets...

Please list any.

thanks

Note:  Overdrive and drive pedals only; no distortion or fuzz pedals.
Also, no amp-in-a-box style pedals (e.g. stuff by Menatone, for example).  FETs seem to be commonly used in the latter, but what about generic overdrives?

Please feel free to also state experiences and views about FET-based overdrives.

FETs are often said to have pleasing amp-like sonic qualities?

A few I can think of:

    • MXR il Torino  [Mosfet]
    • Fulltone Fulldrive 2 - Mosfet setting [Mosfets instead of clipping diodes]
    • DOD Looking Glass [discrete Mosfet gain stages]
    • Shoe Savior Machine [discrete Jfet and Mosfet gain stages]
    • Fulltone OCD   [Mosfets instead of clipping diodes]

    Blackstone Mosfet. Bloody brilliant thing.

Fulltone Catalyst - wide range of tones in this one from clean boost up to fuzz with all sorts in between.

Er, unless they contribute significantly to the sonic characteristics of the overdrive, I think we can disregard those?

I shall have to find a schematic of a Blackstar LT pedal as I am not sure if they use FETs in the feedback amps. I know they use them in some of the HT amp designs. The "metal" range comes to mind.

All the range use FET input op amps (but LTs have moved on from the venerable TLs!) and FETs for signal switching but in the latter case they will not contribute Jack to the sound.

Fet Dream by CE pedals - I have one, nice range of tones, falls between a Zendrive and Hotcake in tones and can be a little grainy & fizzy on the top end. It sounds good as a mild drive or best stacked with my ODR-1 for girth and smoothness.

Blackstone Mosfet - the fattest smoothest versatile pedal ever

There are two types of FET pedals to my understanding

Those which work like a TS and use FETs for clipping and others like the Bogner or Sansamp which try and use multiple FET gain stages to simulate an amp.

There will be questions at the end, I'll let you have my notes if you help me with @Sporky 's cable calculations for speaker cabs......
