    Is any delay worth 1300?

    Thing is,

    a) it's always worth that money so it's like having it in a piggy back

    b) Tonally, it's bloody good- is it better than a 2290? No.

    c) What it does is offer a totally usable delay with a vast range of options with world class tone in each one.

Is it worth it? Prob not.

    Is it good? Damned right.

What's my plan? B2B it with my MXR and 2290 and keep 2 from 3.

Question, what do people hear in the DD2? I had one and I honestly had trouble hearing the difference between it and the DD7.

Depends if the old long chip version or newer one.

Basically the old DD2 chip was used in some epic stuff, Roland Space Echo for one ( I think?)

As I understand it, all DD2s are long chip, the first DD3s are long chip, later DD3s aren't.

I mean in terms of sound quality though, people say it sounds mega different but I'm not really hearing it. I know about the mojo chip but what does it sound like?

  • Is it tap tempo? Also is the modulation digital or analogue?

I've got a DD-2. It's nothing special to my ears. Nice, but it's just a delay.

I have to admit this pisses me off. The DD-2 is a really nice pedal, and getting rarer even without Mr. Cornish destroying perfectly good ones.

They do sound different to me. I liked the DD-7 as well, but the really big problem with it is that when you adjust the delay time, instead of changing smoothly like the DD-2, it goes in little steps - so it doesn't sound right for self-oscillation. They also sound more different at high repeat levels anyway because the DD-2's feedback loop is analogue - it's purely the delay itself which is digital - whereas the ones after the DD-3 all have the whole thing in the digital domain.

That said the DD-3 does sound very nearly identical to the DD-2. (Early ones are exactly identical.)

You know how that vertex guy took a BBE volume pedal, rehoused it, made some minor alterations and sold it as the best ever volume pedal...

In all honesty I'd love to hear one of these, just to see if the hype is really true or not.

    @icbm

I would point out that there's only 396 TES's in the world plus a few in some of the all in one boards for DG, Macca  and May- so he's not destroyed that many, so that may be a slight over reaction.

Listen to Live in Gdansk 2006. it's all TES except, ironically, for Echoes and Time.

No. T REx used for two shows  when Rack MXR broke down, otherwise it was the MXR. T Rex is fab though

Looks nicely made and interesting with the usual gorgeously colourful graphics Mr Cornish is known for, but I dunno, £1300? Can any delay be worth that much?
I'd rather spend that kind of money on a nice amp with kick arse reverb. I know they're not the same thing but still, £1300?
    I mean £1300?
    Seriously, £1300.
     :)
    £1300!!!
