Update: I tried watching it, but it wasn't up to their usual insightful standard for me. Got bored when they had the video with the pedal builder spliced in.

Agreed - I love these guys, and the Pedal Show.

Both new videos (the above and the Pedal Show Wah) - have been the first time I've not made it to the end.

    Summer blip I think

Agreed, I love Doug & Pat and That Pedal Show, I wish Doug & Pat had tried more pedals than just the Klone, but that Klone does sound good. I love the Klon Clones and would buy several if I could!

  • I can't work out if it's a piss take or they are serious.

I've warmed to that pedal show over time but doug and pat is nearly unwatchable, very tedious. Still nice to have the choice.

  • I like TPS because both Dan and Mick seem to come from the point of view that "we don't really like this sound but we can see why some would"
of the couple or so Doug&Pat shows I've watched, it's more of a " this is what we like and sod you if you don't"
both are fine approaches but I find TPS more informative simply because I don't plug a vintage LP straight into an obscure Vox.

Nor me. The whole "good guitar, good amp, all done" approach is valid (for some types of music), but I couldn't quite work out whether the total ignorance of effects pedals ("what does this "gain" knob do?") was meant to be a joke.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

I think there's some sarcasm/ irony there but I agree, it's rather clunky.

Take them for what they are: they made no bones about it from day one that they are old school old geezers whose tonal blueprint from day one (i.e.late 60s/ early 70s) was- as someone else said above- great guitar+ great amp = job done.

I think there's wisdom in that approach under certain circumstances, so long as the rewards are there. Clearly with Oscar and that Vox the riches abound.

    Not all the time though.

They need a clearer focus if they're going to do pedals again though.

The Pedal Show Vids are like Open University broadcasts in comparison, with a few laughs thrown in.

I have to say I've learned a lot from both series, and got a lot of food for thought.
