Both new videos (the above and the Pedal Show Wah) - have been the first time I've not made it to the end.
Summer blip I think
of the couple or so Doug&Pat shows I've watched, it's more of a " this is what we like and sod you if you don't"
both are fine approaches but I find TPS more informative simply because I don't plug a vintage LP straight into an obscure Vox.
Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.
Take them for what they are: they made no bones about it from day one that they are old school old geezers whose tonal blueprint from day one (i.e.late 60s/ early 70s) was- as someone else said above- great guitar+ great amp = job done.
I think there's wisdom in that approach under certain circumstances, so long as the rewards are there. Clearly with Oscar and that Vox the riches abound.
Not all the time though.
They need a clearer focus if they're going to do pedals again though.
The Pedal Show Vids are like Open University broadcasts in comparison, with a few laughs thrown in.
I have to say I've learned a lot from both series, and got a lot of food for thought.
