Put a glass over them, slide a card under and flick em out the window, don't kill them FFS,  The big hairy ones that run across the darkened living room floor at night put the shits up me but they are perfectly harmless

    Eek!
Image result for giant house spider

In winter you might as well kill them as throw them out the window as they can't cope with really cold weather.

Some have 6 (Sicariidae) but most have 8!

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I didn't see a spider while this very cheap device was plugged in. And the ants just vanished.

I should probably add that it does not deter Mice.

We had these living under our Sydney house- had to be professionally cleared.
    They are Funnel Web's.

Spiders don't usually worry me but these fuckers are nasty and they chase you.
When they bite they grip onto you and bite you multiple times.

Ceder wood! place some (fresh) ceder wood about the house, small blocks are fine. The scent seems to disuade spiders. I used this method last autumn and it worked very well compared to past years of huge amounts of spiders.

  • Those daddy long legs spiders, pholcidae or whatever, are your friend and will eat the big ugly house spiders. Thats one of the reasons I dont mind them being around.

If my dog finds a spider she eats it.

Natural order at work, right there. Shes a good dog.

I was watching a big garden cross spider (UK's biggest species I think) catch a fly the other day. Amazing. Had it totally wrapped and immobilised in 10 seconds.
Probably a Polish spider. The british ones take two days thinking about it first and still cock up the job

I don't mind those skinny ones in the OP. Slow and harmless.

Hate the big buggers that speed around though.

Big house spiders that appear in autumn are males looking for a mate. Most of them live indoors permanently and won't thank you if you capture them and release them out in the garden, where there likely to freeze their nuts off instead of getting a shag...

That's all the excuse I need to buy a couple of cedar-topped acoustics then.

  • I dont buy that they normally live indoors (meaning in your house) permanently. Its a myth in my opinion. You will see a noticable difference in the amount coming in your house if you keep all your windows, doors, extractor fans and other holes to the outside world blocked through late august and september when they are roaming for a mate.

They normally live in sheds and garages the rest of the year, or perhaps in the loft. Or other dark areas of the garden like under propped flags and things like that.

If you are the type of person that throws them out of the window, you might be surpirsed how quickly they can scuttle back inside your house. Under a minute easily. Best to chuck them over the neighbours fence or something a good distance away for the best chance of them not coming back.

Or get yourself a pet that likes to eat them ;o)
