One thing people are fundamentally missing- Strymon pricing creates a premium market for other boutique builders.

Or prices being increased nicely, just in time for Black Friday / Xmas pricing to go back to the "normal" pricing in sales...
I'm expecting to see 20% off sales on Strymon at the end of the year..

I can't believe that these price rises will stop a typical Strymon purchaser from buying one of their products. Surely the only place for these pedals is in the studio, or maybe on the professional stage; for home use or small, local gigs I really struggle to see the point. The only pedal I've really splashed out on in the past is the Neo Vent, but I'd wanted an accurate Leslie pedal for nigh on 20 years, and the Neo really did raise the bar to my ears. As for a delay pedal, I just can't say the same.

I love the innovation of these things, but is it not at the stage now where the companies are eeking out such small perceived gains/advantages that the prices are just not worth that tiny bit extra they keep telling us about.

As always it's a case of horses for courses; if you buy Strymon stuff and it inspires you to write things that make you happy then that's great. End of story.

Not sure this is the right forum for those kind of comments, we're all nice people and all that...but that's too far mate.

  • It's just my opinion, that's all. As I said at the end, if these things work for you then that's great. There's no dig at anyone who buys a Strymon, or any pedal that costs a lot; as I said also, I spent a few quid on a pedal once and I still have it and use it regularly. I find it inspirational, and that's all that counts for me :-) As another example, I recently bought a neck from Musikraft which went up in price because of the pound dropping. It was annoying, but it in the end I wanted it and they are the only people doing that particular neck, so I bit the bullet. If someone really wants a Strymon, I'm sure they'll stump up in the face of this increase. that's just my opinion of course ;-)

  • I paid 450 euro for my Bigsky,, it is now 525 euros at Thomann's.
If it's gone up at Thomann, in Euro, what does that have to with Brexit? It's also gone up at Session.de, woodbrass.com,  and guitarmaniac.com in France. Is it a conspiracy? Or a price rise for everyone?
Stop pointing out the obvious, the brainwashed lefties won't be able to handle it

    Wisdom for this man, folks.

After all, the Remain campaign was fronted by those rabid lefties David Cameron and George Osborne whilst famous right wingers like Jeremy Corbyn were not so secretly in favour of Brexit.

You're all being very unfair, Brexit means Brexit. No more, no less.
You can't put the blame on a made up word.
Even spellcheck doesn't recognise it as a real thing.

We don't make certain things in this country as we don't have the write environment, skills, or most importantly market need
But small volume specialised stuff we most certainly do make, and very successfully. We also have the skills - DSP programming was taught in my engineering degree and is in many others. Market need? We have access to the world for exports.
