Have you tried a different power cable? Can't see you've mentioned it.
even though the light comes on?

I once spent 12 hours rebuilding a polishing a set of carbs on a motorbike only to find that the reason it wouldn't start was that the kill switch was in the "off" position.

Does it have a standby switch and have you tried it in both positions?

    Both masters up?
Make sure it's not on 2 watt mode?
Make sure single ended mode is off?
Check the VAC is set to 230 - not 117?

Can't think of anything else - good luck!

Is there any noise at all - faint hiss or hum - from the speaker, or any pop/thump when you turn the standby switch to play?

Do your other amps work OK with the same speakers, cables , guitar etc?

    Testing again with fresh brain in morning, from the top with tested leads and cab;
16ohm out connected to 16ohm cab with speaker cable.
Tested kettle lead in, 230vac selected.
    Single ended mode off.
Bias switch set to el34 as valves installed.
    Nothing in fx loop.
    No footswitch in.
    Tested cable into input.
Switched from stabdbye to high with both volumes down.

There was a slight crackle but nothing like I'd expect.

    All control knobs at 12.
Got a tiny amount of guitar signal through (super tiny considering how loud this thing was is shop) which then crackled and died off.

Im guessing there is a loose connection within the head somewhere. Regardless of if it's fixable by my limited skills, an amp that has failed within the first 2 hours of unboxing it doesn't bode well.
Back to the shop it'll go...
When I find a family member willing to drive my broken leggged self there. It'll be like I'm a teenager again.

Could be the phase inverter valve.

Did it become self aware, then tried to find out about it self and then discovered a youtube vid of Chappers playing a Kraken (the unit in question not realising there might be more than 1) and then committing suicide?

    Just a thought.

Have you tried THAT guitar into another amp?

This caught me out recently when my Batteries had died in my EMG's and that "Faint Signal" is what i got, but i was getting a buzz from touching the end of the guitar lead.

Just a thought which i thought might help.

The though of Chappers playing with me whilst I was unaware would probably stimulate to same response...

Not sure if this is a wider issue but I remember watching a youtube review of the Kraken and at the end the reviewer said the amp died right after the video, and another one he tried also died.

It's this video here, and a caption pops up after 9 mins:

Andertons have ordered a new one from victory and are arranging a courier to deliver and pick up the dead one. Will be a few weeks, but I'd rather wait and have a working one.

    NAD: postponed untill further notice
