What is happening to males (men) these days?

Teeth whitening that's what.  I blame Phil Neville for starting this type of foppery.  Phil appeared on MOTD many times last year sporting teeth that were 'whiter than white'.  And having spent some or a lot of money getting his teeth white, he felt that he had to smile all through the show.  Now it seems that every Tom, Dick and Harry has had their teeth whitened.

And another thing, men wearing their long hair tied up in a bun.  A couple of well known footballers do this and now there is a spate of copy cats.  I saw one earlier this week.  Disgraceful it is.

Men used to go out hunting regularly, build their own tools, houses, find water, take a dump in the woods etc,etc. 
I asked my three friends Thomas, Richard and Harold if they had their teeth whitened. They all said no. Your theory holds no water.

I don't think it's a case of what happened, but more that sexist stereotypes reduced at least a little to allow people to be what they are comfortable with, rather than being a sheep and following what everybody expects of them (nb this obviously extends to people being able to follow what is expected if they so wish).

I'm a hipster with big hair and Jack up skinny jeans but I'm hair with that, when I've spent all my time trying to please other people I went through the biggest period of depression I've ever had - an absolutely fine now

I suspect that the OP is of the same generation as me, so when we were young there were things called "New Romantics". 

That doesn't leave us much room to criticise today's relatively minor foppery.
