Maybe this has been before but is there any worth/point/appetite/time for mods etc... for there to be a log of prices gear sells at? A thread, kinda like what the yellow page log was like at the back of Guitarist in the early 00's. Is it still like that now?

For example, I'm aiming to not buy any gear for the next 20 months, save, move house and then later splurge on an R9/R8/R0 *delete as appropriate*, a 335, a Kemper and hopefully a Blackmachine. But say I notice a trend in sales then I may want to act early to avoid later missing out or indeed wait to get a lower price. This might seem a bit Scrooge-like but given the time of year and what not I got to thinking.


Anyways, just a thought.

How would the mods know? The advertised price has nothing to do with what has been negotiated in private.

Completed sales on eBay does the job really, although it's one reason that we insist on (a) prices being included in ads and (b) no post-sale content deletion.

However, *actual* sale prices are private between buyer and seller, and eBay is a much bigger marketplace.

Oh, and I don't fancy the extra work!

It would be a very useful feature, but we would have to do some dev work on classifieds to make submission of an advert a form where you could have separate fields for price and model etc or it would be vast amounts of manual work.

I think that Reverb.com has this, I'm sure I noticed before they had a price guide on guitars based on previous sales and it was by year/model.
