Do it all "Thrash" metal pedal?

What's Hot
zepp76zepp76 Frets: 2534
Is there such a thing as a do it all Thrash metal pedal? By do it all I mean a pedal that will get that 80's thinner sound and the more modern "chugging" (is that even a word!) sound. I'm guessing a distortion over an overdrive. I have a Marshall that I can get a pretty good scooped mids sound but can't help thinking I can get a better sound going through a pedal into my clean amp. So what are the go to pedals for a bit of that all out metal/Thrash sound? Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

  • @zepp76 as I just mentioned in Binty's thread, I've been doing this high gain thing for years now and have a few recommendations if you'd like them. Just about to catch a flight home but shoot me a PM and I'll get back to you asap mate :-)

  • One to think about though...Amptweaker Tight Metal Pro!

If you didnt already have a Marshall, I'd highly recommend the Friedman. But the TMP does exactly what you described and so much more mate.

The Blackstar LT Metal is surprisingly good for £55.

  • I've no idea if it's good or not but - The digitech Scott Ian Black 13 pedal. Surely that's pretty thrash metal?

@Lew I have the DSL40C, it does a good job but I want more than it can give. Thank you for all the suggestions so far, I've been youtubing them and am pretty impressed so far. Some are quite pricey though!

Any recommendations here? (I responded to your question as well...if it helps I play a Jag or Jazzmaster into a 65 DRRI)

    Metal Zone
The Metal Zone has massively powerful EQ. There's no doubt it can cover the tone range you want, although it can be a bit fiddly to dial in.

Or just use your amp gain and put a Maxon OD 808 over the top of it.

  • I'd suggest avoiding anything with the words 'thrash' or 'death' in the name.
hard to beat the Metal Zone tho, it really is worthwhile spending a bit of time dialling it in tho.
