Helstar's latest is awesome, as is Charred Walls of the Damned too.
I hadn't even noticed they had a new one out. Burning Star is a long time fave.
Big fan of the first 3, certainly Nosferatu. Vampiro is a worthy addition.

    All great records but -

I didn't get the Christine and the Queens record. I feel bad as its been widely heralded as a good album, but I couldn't understand the appeal..... sonically its nothing too exciting, lyrically it doesn't provoke particularly strong feelings of any kind and overall it makes little impression......

Its encouraging that an artist exploring some of the themes she does is receiving wide spread coverage

  • Wilco - Schmilco

I didn't know this existed. Excellent!

Will have a listen at first opportunity
The Assumptions - UAE party band for all your rock & soul desires

  • I don't think I bought a single (hah!) new album this year - half the bands I'm into haven't released anything this year.

The two I've really loved have been Blues-y:
Luxury Hobo Blues - Big Boy Bloater & The Limits
The Chicago Way - Toronzo Cannon

  • Can I suggest Scott Sorry- When we were kings. I know @IanSavage has been banging the drum about this.
It's not had much press, but if you like Hot Water Music/Gaslight Anthem/good music in general give it a go.
No videos on YouTube, so here's a fan made one.

The Rolling Stones one is (I think) the only one I will pick up this year (that was released this year). It isn't that I like modern music, there were some great albums released last year, but like @Nunogilberto, none of my favourite artists have released anything (apart from the Rolling Stones), and nothing else that I have heard has really grabbed me either.

I think Slow Forever by Cobalt may be my number one. Probably do a longer list later if I can be bothered.

    Elephant Tree - s/t
    Dillinger Escape Plan - Disassociation

Glad to be of service. It's a lot better than Star Wars IMHO.

  • I must admit to having not bought many new albums this year, but Blues Pills Lady In Gold is excellent.A powerful female vocal rock album. It may be influenced by 70s rock classics, but it sounds very fresh

I don't buy too much newly released stuff, but this year I've enjoyed the new Personal & the Pizzas LP and Carrboro by Dex Romweber.
