I didn't take part in that but I'm aiming to limit my 2017 guitar expenses to functional stuff like power supplies and leads and pedals I build myself...and maybe change my amp

Since I actually did some wheeling and dealing this year here goes...

The big one for me was finally selling the Music Man Axis Super Sport. That gave me ready cash to buy my colleagues Les Paul Studio and the Tele I've just done a NGD post on.

I also sold my Peavey Classic 30 after lugging it half way across Edinburgh one Saturday night. With the money for that I picked up an Egnater Rebel 30 head and cab for silly money. The intention had been to get a quieter amp but the price was just too good to be true!

And finally, I essentially upgraded most of my main pedal board and sold off a lot of pedals that were sitting in my drawer gathering dust.

I think I'm in a good place now gear wise to do everything I need to and the flat we're currently in has no more room for new guitars anyway!

Last year I got 3 gtrs - 2 were sold by the spring;
(re-necked 55 jr husk, Rosser telecaster. Kept some parts back for '57 junior project. Went a bit project crazy this year! Followed that with 50s Harmony lap steel that's still in bits, Hoyer late 50s solid body husk also slow in germination but getting there. Meanwhile put together a goldtop 1954-style les paul; now working on Dan Armstrong woody / 50s les paul special mashup with vintage p90s!

Elsewhere I bought and sold some vintage fuzz pedals, kept a Rush Pepbox reissue and Ghost Effects Warmjet. Also got an Orange Micro Terror, which sounds pretty good to me with an old Mullard ECC83.

Vox Tonelab SE - was so impressed with my Vox Tonelab LE that I bought a mint used TLSE for the extra gigging flexibility.  Keeper, and now my main rehearsing/gigging kit.

Zoom G5 - bought this to play around with at home on headphones. Has some great features, very nice amp and effect models, and I love things like its tube boost (wish my Tonelabs had that) - & I think it's actually better in many ways than the G5n. But lack of space/floor space means I tend to stick headphones in my AD120VTX and so its going up for sale.

Other than some routine maintenance on amps, buying a new tube here and there, and a few guitar set-ups, that's pretty much it and an uneventful 'gear year' - probably because I'm now pretty content with what I have.

Despite making no promises in that thread I've had a very restrained year, apart from the BadCat, which was mostly paid for by an extra bit of bonus I wasn't expecting.
