What makes you switch off?

It could be TV/radio, or people taking about something.

For me, it would be the following:

Politicians speaking - I cringe every time one of them opens their mouth...

Radio Ads - I drive a fair bit in my job and tend to end up switching the radio on somewhere in between the end of a song and traffic report - cue tons of adverts. It's getting to the point now where I really hate radio ads.

Bar room bullshit - not necessarily confined to a pub, but the second someone stars banging on about everything they're meant to have done or worse still, about their mate's mate who swapped a car engine for something out of a jet fighter (extreme example I know), I just completely stop paying attention.

Agree.  I think they must have increased the permitted amount of ads per hour at some point but it has made listening so shit that I no longer bother with commercial radio at all.  The only exception now is LBC but I subscribe to their podcasts just so I can listen but without the adverts. 
It's either podcasts or Spotify/ internet stations without adverts for me.

I think the phrase "let me be clear" should be banned in politics, I have heard it way to much since 2014, there is nothing clear about politicians and the way the answer questions anyway

Radio ads and Chris Evans. If I'm driving in the morning and in the right mood Radio 4 but otherwise it's constant switching between Absolute and Radio 2.  
With Absolute they do this thing ( for online listeners I presume) where you can pay to listen and get a song instead of the ads. In other words each ad break is around the 3 minute mark. Far too bloody long. 

More than that the traffic announcements on any national radio station. Another 3 minutes of pointlessness. 

And pretty much any TV show described as ' heartbreaking.'
