A new low for Youtube?

I stuck on an instrumental medley from a well known internet guitarist, an 8 minute video. A couple of minutes in, mid-playing, they stuck a bloody advert in! Unbelievable.

To be fair I'd need something to break up an 8 minute instrumental....

  • Don't they do that on the Andertons videos? Yes, very annoying.

They do that in lots of long videos.

  • I've noticed shorter videos have a pop  up ad as well.

I've never had that, but I'd be really pissed off if they did.

They need to get on with releasing paid ad free yt in the UK.

Adblocker Plus seems to keep the adverts away from all the Youtube stuff I watch, including any inline ones within the videos.

I'd only go for a paid version of YouTube if you could get NetFlix content or similar through it also.

Let's face it, there's not a great deal of watchable, professional content on YouTube worth paying for.

Any recommendations? I mainly only watch guitar stuff and music videos on there!

    It depends what you like.

I watch loads of music and guitar related stuff.

I also watch loads of tech conferences like Strange Loop, Goto, etc. You can pay thousands to go to these things, but it's all up on the web for nothing.

Dave Nunez tech teardowns are awesome.

Some silly stuff like photonicinduction, hydraulic press channel ,big clive, colin furze, slo mo guys.

Some old documentaries. You can find a load of the old Adam Curtis docs on there.

We watch loads of Disney park videos and how it's made videos with the kids. Also for lots of older cartoons you can find whole series on there in good quality.

  • Adblock!

  • YouTube is getting a lot of bad press from it's creators at the moment because there is a push towards more adverts and they generate more as revenue through short, shit clickbait videos.

I'm finding it quite hard to remain a fan as good videos are split by ads and in the recommended bar it's usually high click through clickbait shit.

    Yep.

I don't like the idea of Adblock because most of the YT content I watch takes a lot of skill/effort to produce, doesn't sit well with me personally to then use Adblock. I'd happily pay a couple of quid a month for ad free though

  • Ultimatel, click bait could become a thing of the past if people didn't fucking click on it.

Same here. I watch videos that have better, more impartial information on a range of topics that are produced well despite being filmed on relatively amateur equipment. They put some commercial TV to shame frankly.

Content creators work really, really hard every day to generate revenue.

Tons of it on Youtube. Click on the timeline of a video and yellow markers tell you where the 'ad breaks' are.

I am getting the occasional ad on the Amazon Fire Stick (you tube app).
But I still like it. A lot.
Best £35 I spent this year. (should have waited for the Black Friday deal. :s )

I subscribe to IGN, some of the smaller news pieces are 1min long...annoys me big time when they play a 30 second ad that you cannot skip in front of it!!!!!
