I know - the follow-up point was that just because they pay for them doesn't give you some sort of duty to watch them.

In fact the common use of adblockers should be making advertisers think of better and more subtle ways of promoting the products, as TheOtherDennis said - not effectively trying to do it like Emp's pic...

Some news sites are now starting to block you from reading articles if you have an ad blocker.  That's fine.  I'll get my news elsewhere.
