What is for Christmas dinner? (post your pictures)

What's Hot
What is for dinner?
I made a 3 bird roast- partridge/guinea fowl/chicken stuffed with sausage meat + honey roast carrots, roasties and greens.
Dessert is Mrs Oct's Tarte Tartin.

Before it goes in:

    Thanks.
It is pretty simple actually- I was shown how to do it on a butchery course recently.
You debone the chicken, guinea fowl and partridge, put one in the other with sausage meat and then use some twine to put it all together.
Takes me about an hour to do 3 birds but I'm an amateur- pro's can knock it out in about 15 mins.

I made slow roast lamb with pomegranate - pretty good, but the wastage is shocking, Nigella's timings and temperatures are way out - cheating dauphinoise potatoes - again, Nigella has some odd notions about "quicker and easier" and chilli-cashew-broccoli.

Lady BMcH has provided a lemon tart which we will broach shortly.

Well, I like to take my time and do a thorough job of it.
You have to treat the birds with respect- you don't want bits of them all over the place afterwards.
Takes ages to clean up and makes my wife angry.

  • We decided to abandon the traditional thing, so I was to have a Grasmere fillet steak (of obnoxious size), gravy, asparagus and chips. Wifey was going to make a veggie curry of some sort.

Unfortunately, she's pigged out on this morning's fried breakfast (I cooked for everyone, including the child's boyfriend and my mother-in-law) and chocolate, and I'm ill so I'm not wasting a perfect steak on tastebuds that don't work.

    Merry fucking Christmas, eh?

I had this yesterday as my son was with me. It was lush. Today, I've been on a ride on my motorbike. Empty roads, mmm.
