I have a 10lb weight loss to defend (hard won over 6 months!) so I can't go too mad on festivities. Dinner at the mother in law's today, so I opted to cycle the (hilly) 21km to get there. Game on!

    I'll be back on the bike tomorrow. I've been exploring some roads to the east of where I live. Lovely countryside and generally good road surfaces, but horrible headwinds on the way home, so to be avoided in stormy weather.
    I got some nice cycling gear for Christmas though, so looking forward to using it.

    I could stand to lose another 7-8lbs, which I aim to do by April time.
    If you cycle 100 miles a week that's an extra 6000 calories you use, which is quite a lot.

  • Aim to do a minimum of 5000 steps a day - ideally 10,000. Only managed 2000 yesterday (but wasn't silly on calorie intake). Today I've done 6,300.

    I see no point in having lost 4 stone, putting any of it back on for the sake of convention...

    Did a 15 mile route on my mountain bike on Christmas morning, and just done a 25 mile route this lunchtime. Have been doing 50-odd miles a week for most of this year.

    I put on 2 lbs over Christmas which wasn't too bad considering.
    I cycled 30 miles this afternoon, I'll try to get another 20 in tomorrow morning. 

    I reckon 2lbs is roughly 200 miles of road cycling for me.

    I'm down to a healthier twelve and a half stone through using a pedometer and cutting back on junk food.

    2017 will see me doing some strengthening exercises in my plan to not resemble a middle-aged baldy fat bloke :)
