...at £2.5k you shouldn't need to be asking for suggestions, particularly when you already own some great guitars. If there's nothing that jumps out at you already then I'd question the need to spend that kind of dough. But then again I'm weird like that.

It's just for fun, to see what others think.

Muchly this! If you're buying from a shop, part of that should be the experience of going and finding the best guitar in the shop and taking it home. Absolutely fine to have that limited to "Strats" or "anything american" or just "something I don't already have", but it's a really good thing to make that experience part of the guitar's history as well.

    Haggle and get this

I think it may have been sold as it says "Out of stock". I'm a huge fan of Patrick's guitars. I own a Berlin and an LA Plus.
One day I'm going to make a guitar out of butter to experience just how well it actually plays.

How about something from our stable - we have a slew of new stuff coming through for stock and some existing  sexy beasts that we could do something nice with.
This. My Feline panther is a fantastic guitar

Why have one guitar when you could have 36! Realistically, you might be better off buying 2 1k guitars and another for around 500, get some more variety.

You know, I've been having a think about this. Every time I've decided I have a bunch of cash and have wanted a guitar, I've always ended up flipping what I bought.

I only seem to keep the ones where I decide exactly what I want and then go and find one..

Strange I guess but that's been my experience

The guy who won the Guitar Star last year had a Tom Anderson Mongrel with Trem I just liked everything about.  Don't know the full specs of his, but I'd want one that was hollow, jumbo frets, short scale.  Only think I'd change otherwise is the bridge pickup - he had a humbucker I'd prefer a single coil or possibly a p90.
