Wudtone neck finishes

What's Hot
I'm going to plump for a Wudtone neck finish and would like a vintage type tint, without being orange/too amber. Who's used these finishes, and what's the preference for avoiding an orange/amber look?

Cheers all ;-)

Or plain old Danish oil, or a Crimson finish, or, or, or ...
Having trouble posting images here?  This might help.

Gun stock oil, aka Danish oil, works a treat tbh

Tru-oil is also a gunstock oil and quite different to the few different types of danish oil commonly available.  Danish is usually thinner and won't build on the surface like tru oil does

But I do use both depending on wood type and exact requirements

  • I've used tru-oil before and it worked really well, but I'm going to do the body in Wudtone, and because the postage costs to Europe are so high, I thought I'd get a neck kit too to make it worthwhile.

  • I've tried Wudtone on bodies and loved it but I don't like it on necks - Tru Oil for me :)

  • I've used the wudtone vintage amber neck kits twice now. You'll find you only need to use half the colour pot if you font want it too dark.

Once finished its nice & smooth, not sticky at all.

  • Thanks for all the comments here chaps, they're much appreciated as always. I'm keen to give this stuff a go, but prepared that it might not be an easy process. I'm going to go for a more solid, white colour for the body, so fingers crossed and all that :-)
