Yeah I'm not sure I will go for a Teisco copy..

The plate is an interesting idea, but getting the shape right on a Tele style head will be hard..

@WezV, that Teisco looks awful. And I presume the front strap button is in a similar position as on an SG

You both have terrible taste, the teisco is a work of art    (I used to own the bass version)

Anyway, it was the concept I was referring too, not the actual style

That does look hideous, but many makers use an inset plate on a headstock which is a similar idea, and it can work well with fender shapes.  I quite like the trussart solution but it doesn't quite work near the headstock curve.  I think it would work better with a bit of the teisco shape at the nut end.  I like the teisco version because it doesn't follow the headstock shape

@vale is Surf Green 60s pop enough for you?

me & andy find your particular shade of green to be entirely pop-appropriate.

@vale - I am glad! It's certainly a bright colour - difficult to spray, but looks pretty good now!

The question for any Fender guitar paint is ·would it look good on a hot rodded classic american car. (pre 1965). That is hitting that spot.

Well, Part 1 of the build is done.

Body and neck finished and now united with each other.

    Machine heads installed.
    Bridge installed.
    Pup and electronics installed.
    Strings on and setup performed.

    Doesn't look too bad:

I need to do some daylight shots tomorrow to show off that proper Surf Green goodness..

And then, it's pick guard time. Will be much fun. Once I have a spare, it's time to decoupage!

How does it sound, you say?

Thumpy. Really really thumpy. Like, more thump than I've heard before. It's very different to a split-coil P, and quite unique. But I like it. Yes, I like it.

The pick guard is not standard, I can send you a jig if you want to make one your self.

That looks sooooo good :)     I actually think the pickguard is spot on for it - it emphasises the surf green and doesn't detract from it as many pickguards do.

    Superb job :)

Well, I think you might be right.

I'll leave it as it is for now. It's satisfyingly 60's enough for now!

Here's a daylight shot to round it off:
