You have ONE distortion/overdrive.. What's it gonna be?

Imagine this.
You've been given an opp to play guitar in a huge venue. your own band or depping for some major band.
You've been given a clean amp.. no overdrive even at full bore..bit it sounds great clean. Fat and spanky.

You get to pick ONE overdrive or distortion pedal. No Axe FX etc, just the pedal.

What are you gonna choose?
Remember your rep depends on this.... so what's it going to be?

  • Without even having played one - Chase Bliss Brothers. It's 6 drives in one pedal...

Failing that - a Snouse Blackbox Overdrive 2.

  • I pick a 5150, it can sit on the floor and I'll kick the channel changes thus making it a pedal

    It's always gonna be a Nobels OD1-R or a Boss OD-3.
    I love those drives.

Gurus 1959 double decker. 2 channels of marshall plexi plus a clean boost. Oh and fx loop... Oh and emulated out.

OD pedal and backup pedal all in one.

Failing that then the TI'm pierce OD from jrad would do it for me I think.

My own tastes for a go-anywhere, play anything OD would be one from

    Boss SD1

    MXR Distortion 3

    Or MXR GT-OD

    All are awesomes.

Actually, the Earthquaker Pallisades looks useful or the Ethos Clean but no experience of them.

  • Boss df 2. Can do light, loose rhythm drive, mid gain, loose crunch, mid gain, brighter stack type crunch and fairly high gain leads. Not the best at clean up, but probably the best sounding overdrive pedals I've ever used.

Second place goes to a boss ds-2. Similar to above, but not as good sounding, plus has an amazing lead fuzz tone on top.
