I've gone back to a diy grade 2 all over (nearly wrote "number 2" but that gives the wrong impression!) as I couldn't keep a proper hair style looking good for more than a week or two.

i also used to find there were loads of people in the queue at the barbers who already had very short and immaculate hair - I'm not really sure what they were paying the barber to do.

My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

I go about 4 times a year. I go to the ladies hairdressers with the missus, we don't have a mens barbers in town anymore.

5-6 weeks. I really like my hairdresser - known him for 25 years - he's my age and survived bone cancer.

To be fair, I have very little hair. I should buy some clippers and adopt the DIY approach - but old habits die hard....

My wife does mine with clippers about once a month. Although I'm bald on top, the bits round the sides grow stupidly quickly and I end up looking like Max Wall if I leave it any longer.

I've known and used the same guy for about the same length of time. His shop is directly across the road from me but as you can see I don't go very often, maybe every 8 weeks or so

I should point out my guy's also a guitar player and massively into music. My niece had booked tickets to see Peter Gabriel at the Manchester Arena on his 'Back to Front' tour - but was unable to go due to a work trip that clashed with it.

My hairdresser is a massive PG fan and had been given the all clear from his cancer just before the show was due to take place, so I gave him the spare ticket. Seeing him enjoy that gig was a real life-affirming moment....

Every 5 weeks, like clockwork, 9.30 Saturday mornings.  I book them in advance for about 6 months ahead because I hate phoning up to make appointments.

about once every 3-4 months. I can tell I need a haircut as it gets in my eyes swimming (swim 5 days a week). I hate going, I find it traumatic and I can't bear waiting.

Twice in the past 5 years I have left it for a year. I wanted cool long hair but I just looked like a tramp. Hair wouldn't grow quick enough. Wife hated it, brother in law took the piss (he'd call me Worzel Gummidge!). I didn't mind what they though, but I did look a twat. Wish I'd kept it going now ....
