And an honourable mention for local artist Percy Shakespeare, although having problems with the link so you'll have to imagine.
Finally the anonymous painter of Boy With Penis. An art student moved in to our shared student house for a short while and left behind one of his paintings. Anonymous because I can't remember his name. I kept the painting for a few years but MrsTheWeary eventually convinced me to part with it. However, if taste in art comes up then Boy With Penis gets mentioned as an example of how little I know...
It's the other worldly feel and absolute skill in the brushwork that I wonder at.
The lady of Shalott by Waterhouse...
and Hylas and the nymphs...
Ophelia by Millais
Nice.
We have a similar Klimt canvas above our fireplace. I'd post a picture but that whole process is flipping nightmare these days....
Ginger hair, small penis and carrying someone's internal organs? That's a picture of Sambostar, right?
personally I like the big Renaissance fellas most
and some of the unusual Salvador Dali stuff..
but top of the list is this

Recently I've been getting into Andrew Wyeth's work since getting his Autobiography.
Goya
Titian - I've seen three in person (rape of Europa in Boston, and the two the UK bought) and they really are stunning.
I do love Van Gogh though. Maybe a cliche, but just astonishing stuff. I sat for a good 30 minutes in the Van Gogh room in the Met. I could've stayed all day.
Also, love a lot of James Rosenquist's stuff...great if you're into pop-art...
Oh, and Bacon.
