Perhaps they are going the Apple route and will bring a new model out every year, almost exactly the same as the last one, but with something vital missing.
Actually, thinking about it, a Helix 2 could gain the Wireless capability of the Spider amps.
But even if the hardware is updated slightly, the Helix will remain. Line 6 are known for maximising product lifecycle, look at the DL4.

I'd feel exactly the same way. My thoughts are there's no smoke without fire so there could be some truth in it. Also the release of the LT could suggest they've past the peak of selling the big one. Who knows?
I know the Helix is all I'll ever need, but so was an iPhone 4, better start saving!
If the LT and native firmware was not compatible I'd be worried.
Maybe they stop making it and only produce the cheaper LT?
