I lost count of how many times I managed it but I'm fairly sure I don't have many regenerations left in me.
I'm happy to be raffled off, it seems a fitting end to everything but I'm still not sure how this gets me any closer to my new guitar.

    Hang on,.........If I'm a Timelord..........??

    Back in a minute,........I mean a year, ...........I mean Yesterday !!

    LOL

    Welcome home  :)

    You have been missed.

on another note, when you are ready, and if you want to ~ pop me a PM as I have some exercises which may help your hand regain some strength and dexterity, no pressure though.  Good luck with your recovery, nice to have you back mate  :)
    Thanks Chris,

    I'll PM you next week.
Surgery was to remove deeply embedded splinters from a rogue, cheap guitar neck I bought last summer. I couldn't get them out and then they got badly infected so I've had the pads of my left index finger and thumb cut open, the bad tissue cut out and then stitched back up again. The muscles in the hand are weak anyway because I haven't been able to play before the surgery either so I'll have to wait until the skin heals (Approx 8 weeks) before I can do anything at all but I'll PM you soon to get the advice.

    Thanks man.

That sounds horrendous, a guitarists worst nightmare.  I do hope it is healing well for you.
Offer's still here if you want, just pop me a PM..

    @ChrisMusic ;
I'm so sorry man I've been stupidly busy.
My fingers are healing well now.
Another few weeks and I'll be able to start playing again gently.
One of my best friends gave me a hand exerciser called 'handmaster' by doczac.
I'm using that for now but I will pm you soon and take any advice I can get on this.

It's nice in a way because I've managed to delete a lot of bad habits I had but don't seem to have forgotten too much of what I could play so arm, hand and finger strength are going to be my focus until end of July when I know the skin will be thick enough.
After that I'll be revisiting your epic thread on music theory, going back to all the Steve Vai workout stuff and generally getting back into playing fluently.
I've been looking forward to it for so long now it's like fire inside me.
I think I've found that spark I had when I was young only now I can actually fret notes and hit strings properly so I'm half expecting some good results.

For now though it's all exercise.
I'll drop you a line soon.

    Thanks Chris.

Welcome back.  Re-building wrist & finger strength takes time, so be patient and don't rush it.
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

    Thanks
    I'm not rushing.
I do reps of 10 on the finger exercise (thumb stretching out as well as fingers) then the arm exercise (thumb kept still over the ball).

Not sure how to post a link from my phone but if you Google
Doczac Handmaster you'll see the thing I've got and how it works.

I use it twice a day on both hands and also I'm playing single notes on the bottom E string, fretted with my ring finger which is fine and wasn't operated on, playing alternate chugga-chugga type picking to get my right arm a bit further into shape.
I do around 5 minutes in 1 minute reps, twice a day along to a metronome at different speeds before my arm starts to burn.
In another month I'll get some dumbells for general arm strength too but that can wait a bit.
I know I'll fuck myself up if I don't do all this right and it's too important to me this time to mess it up.

    Thanks for the advice guys.
