The first generation ones are actually very reliable if used within their capabilities

In both cases, the JBLs sounded really good - at least when I was out front listening to other bands. I'd be interested to hear your opinion once you've given yours a spin.

Of course that tells me precisely zero about how it will perform at a gig, but I'm sure my neighbours enjoyed it
What's the lineup of your band? I bought this for my acoustic duo, but am wondering if just one of them will work with my laid-back 5-piece as a vocal only PA.
I was initially skeptical it would deal with that, but it seems to perform really well. As I said, I haven't had chance to stand out front and hear our band play through it, but one of the other bands at our recent gig had exactly the same lineup and sounded great.

I'm kind of hoping for portability's sake that one Eon One will suffice for that, but if not I'll just get another.
One vocal mic, and guitar cab and bass drum mics just as a bit of backup, via an old Yamaha mixer. I had one of our usual 12" powered cabs on a pole wired up but switched off just in case we needed it but we didn't at all.
The JBL sounded great, really crisp, intelligible vocals with loads of power in reserve and we had it off to one side a little bit but basically behind us with no feedback issues at all, not even a hint of it.
It wasn't a big crowd last night so as a band we didn't feel swamped by ambient noise, and in those circumstances a single Eon One was more than adequate. I'll continue to bring backup powered cabs for rowdier gigs, but for most of the smaller bar work and our acoustic trio it'll be fine on its own.
If the gig diary fills up in the way it has done over the few years I'll buy another one in the spring.
I'm very impressed, especially with its broad spread of sound. Our singer likes the security of IEMs, but if the batteries died mid song she'd be able to hear herself perfectly well enough.
It's the best £750 I've ever spent on band gear tbh.
