I realised that they don't actually sound £800 better than the £200 ovation I have.
Agree with the OP a £75 pedal can make a much bigger difference to my sound than a £1000 guitar.
I am not adverse to GAS, far from it in fact. I trawl the classifieds, eBay and Reverb every day but it would be frivolous to buy more guitars.
Pedals are a different matter though...but I have made a commitment to only buy pedals in kit format
As long as the kids are fed mortgage is paid why go through life denying yourself the pleasure.Even if it’s short lived, unless I have made a complete mistake I get a few years out of guitars which say the good ones start at 3k that’s still a lot less than people spend on fags and up the pub. If you sell them again and you get back 50% it’s still a cheap hobby when I look at what people spend on their leisure pursuits.
Yes, they cost less individually, which means they are easier to buy. One per month, and within a year you’ve spent over £1k.
Buy a multiFX, preferably a secondhand Helix or AX8, both of which come up on this forum. Learn how it works, and how parameter changes affect your sound. Don’t buy anything else, other than a rocker pedal for wah, for twelve months. I reckon that it takes between 6 and 12 months to understand what a multiFX can do for you. After six months you can sell most of your pedals, keeping only the few which you need for reference.
Make a partscaster, then modify it, then change it again, and learn what impact the changes have on your playing and sound. A partscaster should cost you less than £500. You’ll learn a lot more by making six than you would by buying one £3k guitar

Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after youYeah, right.
(Makes note not to buy from Daved....)
Luckily I quite like the idea of having just one guitar you play the shit out of which is helping too.
