NVGD - 1964 Gibson SG Standard

After a lot of backwards/forwards and soul searching - today is NVGD.

Really nice condition 1964 Gibson SG Standard from GunCotton Guitars

All original apart from a replaced pot (replaced with another 1964 dated a week after the one it replaced), and a refinished front of headstock (I have all the photos) done to cover up the damage from the Schaller tuners which had been fitted at some point. This meant the nut has also been changed (but no refret).

Oh, and the eagle eyed will notice the trem arm screw is incorrect!

Has a lot of variety in the tone controls, and a neck to die for. Case candy includes a price list from the time, which makes you wish for a time machine!

Hats off to Clem at Guncotton - a new company to me, but a pleasure and a gent to deal with.

Fantastic.  I think '64 is the SG year of choice.  Lovely!

Trem arm screw ruins it for me....

nice axe are you going to keep the vibrato?
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

I'd take it off to play it, but keep it to put back if I ever decided to sell

Ultra cool guitar! Play it, love it and don’t change a thing. There’s something really special about those old SGs.

Nice, how does it compare to your late 60's SG?

I’ve got a 65 SG with the trem arm on, stays in tune perfectly even with pretty unsubtle use and is no bother at all, plus it looks unbelievably cool

Just get an Eric Clapton ‘Fool’ paint job and you’ll be good to go!

Good question - they’re more similar than I expected. This one is a little lower output and more ‘vintage’ the 69 T-tops are hotter and nastier for sure.

I prefer the wider neck on this - but there’s not much in it to be honest

If we could find someone with a 64 drum kit we could have a proper 1964 Jam at the next Jam day ;)

If you can find a '64 triangle or tambourine I might even join in.
