There is a great deal of ignorance and suspicion regarding Masons.

Both Tom Cruise and John Travolta are members. They very rarely wear pointy hoods or address each other as Grand Wizard. And just because I may (or may not) be a Knights Templar it doesn't mean I know where the Holy Grail is.

I met one once, I was looking to buy a car, he had one for sale but it was a crock of shit, Essex car dealer type, detached bungalow = made it , he just wouldn't stop telling me he was a Mason, every other fucking sentence, told me all about their get togethers down the local community centre, In the end I got a very uncomfortable feeling about him and made an excuse and quickly left, Those Knights Templer, are they the same group that are on Facebook that promote Islamophobia and hatred?

Correct. The free masons were originally a trade guild - in many respects, a forerunner of trades unions. Like those in other lines of business, the chiselling guys protected their skills and incomes by keeping their specialist knowledge to themselves. Hence, the inherited aspect. Jobs for the boys. I used to derive amusement at work, teasing a former colleague about freemasonry. He invariably reacted as if they had punitive powers of retribution over the rest of society. I suspect that the workforce was supposed to believe that he was a member.

Actually, we knew that he was a "member", just not in the freemasonry sense.

My (maternal) grandfather was one and my Dad was asked but thought it was far too silly.
Had a boss who was one who'd come back with good jokes to tell after their meetings. He'd coyly say he'd been to his "club".
Anyway haven't you ever had someone look at you and say meaningfully "..and what line are you in?"

I worked on a Lexus once, it's was the v8, it's was in a little Mazda, that was the closest thing to holy fuck Id been for a long time.
