The number of Cold Calls that I receive on my landline has picked up this past year...now reaching irritation level.
From a Caller ID perspective, many are seen to "originate" from outside the U.K - INTERNATIONAL is flagged on my phone.
This past year I have noticed that an increasing number are seen to originate from telephone area codes that I have some connection with e.g my home area or where my parents or friends live. Now it may well be that these codes are genuine (The call centre is actually based there / always originates calls from these locations) but the cynical side of me suspects that something else and rather more illegal is going on.
Has anyone else noticed this?

I gave him a kazoo and showed him how to use it for maximum effect. He only used it twice and he's not had any since. Maybe there is also a 'do not call' database for numbers that bite back.

Only last week, my car was attacked by a plague of giant squirrels. I was saved by my spaniel in the passenger seat knocking the automatic gearstick into drive only for us then to drive straight into a crater caused by a mix of volcanic activity and werewolves.
'Hello, hello, are you still there?'
“Hello I’m calling about your recent accident.”
“Oh great, I definitely need help. Now, was that the accident where I ran into the bus full of disabled kids or the one where I ploughed into the queue of pensioners at the post office and the car caught fire?”
Or speak to them in French -and see how long it takes for them to hang up.
I'm making it into a game as to how long can i keep them on the line.
You have to hurt these people as much as you can so they find other jobs.
It's also useful to have BTs caller ID service. If you see a spoofed number it's advisable to NOT answer. A lot of the time these callers are looking for real numbers. If you don't answer it's unlikely they will call again.
"We're calling about your Windows computer"
"Windows? No, I can't see any windows on it. There's a little door on the front - does that help?"
"No, no, no. Windows. The operating system"
"... shall I try opening the door and having a look? Hang on... OH MY GOD, I THINK I'VE KILLED HER!!!"
That tends to get rid of the humans. Unfortunately, most of the calls I get now are automated. No fun whatsoever.
