need replacing and god knows what else to stop the house falling down.
Main guitar related project is to finish (or more like start) a beautiful thinline tele/Jm hybrid build I’ve had the parts for since last April. So far all I’ve managed to get done is fixing the binding.
Not so much a project, but I’d love to find myself a great vintage hollow body this year - ES 330 or a nice old Guild. I suppose the project part of this would be earning the money to make it a reality!

The workshop depends on the weather. It’s planned for February, but if the weather is dry then digging the garden will take precedence.

Rebuild the Lawn Tractor we use in the woods
Finish the Abomination project
I'd really like to build a guitar body from scratch....
Paint the rendered part of the house
Finally finish the Defender 90 rebuild, it's just had its fourth MOT since being rebuilt on a new chassis and there is still stuff to do....
Assuming my current classical build results in a playable guitar, I'll have a go at building 6 string and 12 string acoustics in parallel.
I've previously built copies of 1956 (year of birth) Strat and Tele. Tempted to do a Les Paul, but I really don't need another electric guitar, so I'll probably build a 4 string tenor guitar inspired by the looks of a 1956 Les Paul TV special
Well, I have a few things in mind....
I have some left-over horse chestnut from the Chrimbo 2017 guitars that has a piece of rippled ash waiting to be attached and turned into a PRS-a-like short scale guitar named 'Yellowjacket' (my 6 1/2 yr old sons idea.....)
I have plans and O'Brien video to build a mandolin (wood already bought from David Dyke)
6+12 double neck mahog/rippled ash/OilCity pickups/mahog neck
34" scale bass guitar in blue/green PRS-foil-a-like finish
3 x P90 mahog body with dark brown sunburst to edges, maybe flip-flop-metallic-paint finish instead
Benedetto-style archtop
Possibly, *maybe*, haven't-decided-yet, a Celtic Harp for my wife for next Chrimbo.
Finish a Maloof-style rocking chair for friends
Start/finish Tweedle-Dee amp kit from Modulus
And once all that is done, and we're into March, I'll start on the garden

Might get a new neck for my old strat. After playing a load of other fenders I think it's just the neck on mine I hate I want something with a soft v but at least 9.5" radius, which is proving harder to find for a reasonable price than I'd thought.
I also have Benedetto 17" cutaway mold.

I think that lot cost about £600 I going to sell it for £350 +P&P
Going off to a Spa Hotel in a couple of days to try and recover, I think it might be kill or cure.

@GSPBASSES - That's a very kind offer, and I shall certainly consider it. I do have a selection of wood that I was going to use, but I don't honestly know how good it is - it came from a sawmill outside of Edinburgh and whilst the sycamore has ripple, it is very 'stainy', and there is a bit of twist on the spruce. Let me think on it. Would you consider splitting up?
Cheers,
Adam
Joining this forum was actually part of my new year task. I've been silently reading this forum as a guest slowly gathering a little knowledge here and there over the years.
Long story short I used to play religiously for 10 years and was in a great band but life took over and my playing ability declined and so did my passion over another 9 years. Now's the time to make a change - upgrade my beat up strat and commit to learning a few songs.
Main reason I finally joined was to finally upgrade my guitar - it's a Strat copy that I've had for 19 years and the only electric i really play and own. After a horrible pickup upgrade a few years back and wearing out all the woodwork I decided it's time to properly go for a makeover. The aim is upgrade the neck and pickups for a start (neck has already arrived wooo) and then pester everyone on this forum for pickup recommendations. Then I'll see what I can restore from the body and think about a trem upgrade. Regarding pickups I've done a fair amount of research but looking to support a UK based dealer - separate post coming soon for that.
The other reason I joined was to get my playing back up to scratch so I've tasked myself to the end of the year to learn 3 songs:
- Neon by John Mayer
- Half of Eugene's Trick Bag by Steve Vai
- Pride and Joy by SVR
Random choices but I really appreciate both ends of the genre spectrum and using this forum as motivation.Really looking forward to get active on this forum guys :-)
This year I will be finishing off the parts-caster I started last summer - in fairness there isn't much to do so shouldn't take me long.
I've also committed myself to building my own flavour of Les Paul special DC, and I will be first off all making a workshop in the back of my dad's garage so I have a proper place to work and store tools etc. The workshop is already there, of sorts, it just needs a good tidy up and I have to persuade my father to chuck or sell some 'stuff' he doesn't, and never will, use.
He used to be a pattern maker so has lots of very nice tools already, but I've ordered a bunch of specialist tools to complement his collection.

Finish the tele I started 6 months ago. Start again on the neck.
Build a new pedalboard from the ash planks I bought three months ago. Do this with dovetail joints...
Build a REAL hurdy gurdy.
Get the workshop under control and tidy. Storage for tools and jigs.
