Since getting my Tremoverb I've not found the need for one but....
probably owned more TS pedals than anything else, still have a Gearmandude TS808.
I enjoyed the MXR D+ & DOD 250 I had
You may be right. I suspect he uses better components than I did, so perhaps a bit quieter.
It's also got a Ge transistor in it- I think I got one in the right gain range and leakage and all that jazz, but I'm no expert. Again, may make little or no difference (it's more like a Coloursound Power Boost / Overdriver than a Fuzz Face, I think), or it might be night and day.
Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.
Having said that, I don't have an overall favourite, it's horses-for-courses for me. I have a Revival Drive, but I use it as an amp simulator rather than an overdrive pedal.
For some reason it sounds even better than the real thing.
Some stated resistor and capacitor values were not obtainable in the UK so I had to serial/parallel combine compents to get the values required.. sometimes using three components combined.
I wonder if this has effected the signal?
