morning gents
i'm having problems with my guitar..
its got the emg 81/85 set with the 24v mod
its frequently making whoosy/windy noises & crackling etc..
(ill try & capture a vid later to demonstrate)
i've briefly tried to work out if its a pot/input issue by rolling down each pot & flicking the switch trough the 3 positions..
later i'll be trying a 9v battery, swapping some pots etc
i've tried 3 amps, & the other 2 guitars with emgs in & they are fine...
but has anyone else experienced problems with this set?
bit vague like, but i'll try & get audio/vid later
it doesnt sound like the battery dying (that usually goes all quiet & lpf sounding in my experience)
any suggestions/advise appreiciated (except binning them obviously
)

My guess is is you’ve got a bad connection or wire, but the only way you’ll find that is changing things on at a time.
I'm going to whip it apart later & have a tweak
I'm going to have to RIP the other apart too to test if one of the pickups has gone
Failing that I might go up town & get a new wiring kit
Is this system Quick Connect, old-fashioned hard-wired or a mixture of both?
It would also help to know what selector switch and control pots you are using.
Hmm... home shortly, time to deconstruct
After some messing about..
It turned out to be the 2x a23 batteries doing a massive flap
Either dying or suddenly not liking it (after some months of being completed)
Luckily I worked it out after checking some wire & bypassing all the pots
(I was about to leech the bus & output from another strat that would have been more things to put back together lol )
I've taken the 24v loom out & put a new 9v in
Weird, I only play an hour or so here n there during the week & few lots of 2-3hrs practice over the weekend.... a 9v usually lasts me 7 or 8 months
My gfs guitar with the 24v mod has lasted longer.
I'm going to stick to the 9v again. 24v is cool but the heavier sound it makes is a little love it or hate it.
Anyway

Cheers for the input lads
