I've recently been getting into some 1960s R&B, the likes of The Meters and Booker T & The MGs and have found myself really taken by the funky rhythm guitar sections. I've also come across bands such as Them, Quicksilver Messenger Service and The Pretty Things, as well as the twangy reverb laden sounds produced by Phil Spector. I feel like I've been missing some really great music that was made during this era and I love finding new stuff to listen to. I know I've stated a broad spectrum of genres here but does anyone have any suggestions for other bands/albums/songs akin to the ones I've mentioned above?

@kswilson89 R&B means different things to different audience demographics. Most of the acts on your list are white people, imitating the popular music of people currently labeled African American.
