Like nothing else in a radio era of manufactured late-90's pop bands and Travis-alikes
Yes probably Voodoo Child when I first heard it when it went to number one after he sadly died. I'd been playing guitar for about a year and a half and I'd never heard sounds like it at the time.
It changed my perspective and I started to think, less in terms of just the notes, and more about how to make sounds I liked from the guitar. Around that time, Kossoff's vibrato on All Right Now also had a similar effect.
Listening back its kind of underwhelming but I think that was the first time I’d knowingly heard anything heavy, low and dissonant like that. I remember I wanted a 7 string for so long!
