I tend to do "tremolo but in-time" picking on single strings (usually the high E because of where it fits in the harmonic picture) with simple sequences. The rest is "chunking" (see Troy Grady) and trying to land on a good note with a good bend/vibrato/divebomb/squeal. \m/

Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.
On some of these I switch because - a lot of these (esp with hammers/muted legato) work a lot better with one of the in-between positions. You lose a bit of gain and get more definition.
1: - fast tapping. You do a hammer-on with your left hand, and tap on the same fret. Alternate and it sounds stupidly fast. Richie Sambora does it with slides too. Can do it up/down, across strings etc etc.

2: - bend the string off the neck. It works and sounds cool (sometimes).

3: - sliding taps. Instead of sliding with your finger (which I do first), use your fingernail. Can slide much quicker.

4: Quick pentatonic taps - take a standard pent shape, add tap on top, then add hammer-on from nowhere to next string. I've mixed up minor/bit of major here so it's mixolydiany.

5: Double up your tapping. And have notes close together. Closer they are, faster it sounds. By double up I mean do one tap, then a tap within that, then back.

6: Harmonics on bends. Do a bend....and as it rises, really gently catch the harmonic with your thumb (right hand) on the strings in the pickup area. As you can tell you have to measure it carefully, but when it catches it sounds really cool.

7: Hammer on chords. Started with part of a B major barre chord with the open B string. Pick open string, hammer on the chord. Then try picking a triplet on the open string.

8: Use different combinations of fingers. 1,2 & 3 are naturally stronger, so if you stretch them and develop that, you'll be able to get stuff faster.

9: Go up in 3s - fingers 1,2 and 3 and on consecutive frets. Again I'm doubling up on strings here, and doing hammers back to the string before.

10: Begin an arpeggio with hammered on notes (then doubled up) on an open string. Why? More notes and it sounds cool.

11: Shapes: Take one shape and just move it up in octaves.

12: Hammered arpeggios: instead of sweeping, hammer the notes on in pairs of strings.

13: Sweep-tap. Combine a sweep with the fast-tap-on-same-fret thing. Bit silly.

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

I was the one who asked for guitarists who do long legato lines on your live stream a couple of days ago. I have made a playlist of the guitarists mentioned. Thanks again!
I have made so much progress thanks to all the inspiring and helpful videos in this thread. I'm fairly pleased with my ascending legato but really need to get my descending legato up to the same standard. I'm doing the "all hammer ons" approach suggested in the other thread with the "feather touch" picking but still cannot get the notes even volume-wise..

It’s good man, thanks for sharing your knowledge
