    There are a number of Parrot rescue centres etc. I would suggest that as your in London give the Zoo a ring. But if you are prepared to put some time and effort in and don’t mind the odd oops in the house ( they can be very destructive and like any bird can’t be house trained) they do make great and amusing pets. 
    As to looking after it, make sure the cage is big enough and let it out at least once a day. Clean water and food every day, some toys for it to play with in the cage, and the odd treat to bribe it with . My Senegal was mad for spaghetti, pizza, chicken bones and scrambled egg, as well as mobile phones and tv remotes!
