First up the maple top jointed, glued and onto the body, and that got trimmed & skimmed to size
Showed this before but it gets used a a general hold-down for routing and for doing F-style headstock adjust necks.
I hate the looks of wedges, but hot-glued into place they make it super rigid.
Couple of things learned -
Cast plexi is nicer to drill & machine but has rough tolerances, the long neck piece^^ is over 1mm difference in thickness from end to end. Doesn't matter in this case luckily.
Extruded is more pesky but has better tolerances.
Panel wipe takes off any remaining bits of hot glue very nicely.
It lets you test a neck out for fit & angle etc
Obvs the neck heel/tenon not thicknessed yet, sneak up on that later
Nice & light bit of mahogany, this is
And thanks!
Indeed I do - that top is lush
I made a two-piece rosewood headstock faceplate.
Ross' bridge & tail of choice test-fitted after drilling for bushes (the angle isn't as extreme as the pic looks.. the bushes weren't fully driven in.. pic made me check tho!)
The Mojo P90s are in the post. Next up is making wedges to fit under the fretboard/body overhang, detail sanding & fettling, final dry build, and then we're onto prep for colouring in .
