My understanding is that in '99 (40th Anniversary of the '59) there were no R8s and all burst finish LPs were classed, and marked, as R9s. It is therefore, for all intents and purposes, an R8. It might even be worth less than an R8 because people think there's something odd about a plaintop R9.
I just got it into my head that I wanted a plaintop after playing a near identical one that, allegedly, was used by Matt Deighton in his brief stint in Oasis. I fell in love with the '99/'00 sunbusrt (more of a "teaburst" I suppose) and took a chance on importing from the USA as the exchange rate meant that I could get a used historic for significantly less than a Standard over here.
